It may have taken a couple of days, and more than a few pairs of waterlogged shoes and socks, but the Gleneagle Talons are again District field hockey champions.
The Talons scored three times in a shootout to defeat the Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils in the final Thursday that was played over two days after the game was suspended at half-time on Wednesday because monsoon rain had flooded the field at Best secondary. It's the second championship in a row for the Talons, and their 15th district title in 20 years.
Gleneagle reached the final by defeating Heritage Woods 2-1 in overtime in one of Tuesday's semi-finals.
They now advance to the Fraser Valley championships, to be played next week.
