Port Moody’s Jenna Buglioni recently accomplished a milestone attained by only five other players for the Ohio State Buckeyes’ women’s hockey program.
A power play goal Buglioni scored in a 4-0 win over Bemidji State on Jan. 14 was the 150th point of her Buckeyes’ career. As well the game-winner was the 15th of her tenure, one shy of tying the program’s record. Buglioni also added an assist on another power play goal in the second period scored by teammate Joy Dunne.
Ontario’s Emma Maltais is Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer with 206 points in 169 games during her collegiate career. She currently plays for the Toronto Sceptres in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL).
It’s been a big season for Buglioni, who’s pursuing her master’s degree in sports management. She was named captain of the Ohio State team last spring and she’s scored 15 goals and added 16 assists in 28 games.
Buglioni also scored the shootout winner against top-ranked Wisconsin in a special outdoor game played Jan. 4 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.
The Buckeyes, which won last year’s NCAA championship, is currently ranked second.
Buglioni is placed 15th in the latest rankings for the 2025 PWHL draft. That’s an improvement over the 31st placement she had prior to the 2024 draft, but she elected not to declare her eligibility for selection so she could attend her fifth year at Ohio State.
Buglioni’s scouting report said she is “a highly intelligent” two-way player “who has good speed.” But, it added, her diminutive 5’3” stature may hinder her adjustment to the pro league’s more physical style.
Coquitlam’s Jordan Baxter has a goal and five assists in her sophomore year with the Buckeyes.
