Volunteer fair
Community Volunteer Connections and the City of Port Coquitlam host a community fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Mabbett Hall and the JB Young Room at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) to showcase nonprofits and volunteer work available. Tri-City residents can learn about activities, camps and assistance programs and take part in workshops including Bone Health 101 at 10:15 a.m.

Kids rugby
Students in kindergarten to Grade 6 can try rugby with Coquitlam’s United Rugby Club, a sampler running from 10 to 11 a.m. at Maple Creek Middle School in Port Coquitlam (3700 Hastings St.). No prior rugby experience is needed, but participants should have a pair of cleats or running shoes, as well as water and athletic clothing.

Teddy bear picnic
Kids can grab their teddy bear for a Teddy Bear Picnic at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam (1299 Pinetree Way). Organized by Festival Coquitlam, the event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features booths, roving artists, face painters, demonstrations and musical performances: Janina Russell and Mr. I (11 a.m.); Kung Jadee (11:10 a.m.); Mellado Dance (11:45 a.m.); Janina and Mr. I (12:50 p.m.); Mom Bop (1 p.m.); The Great Gordini (2 p.m.); Yuen’s Family Martial Arts (3 p.m.); and Janina and Mr. I (3:45 p.m.).

Coastal Sound
Choral singers with the Coastal Sound Music Academy present two concerts at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way): 4 p.m. with the Coastal Sound kids, junior and children’s choirs; and 7:30 p.m. with the DeCoro, Coast Sound youth and children’s choirs. Tickets are $22/$17/$12.
