If you’re looking for a bite to eat this summer while at Lions Park, the City of Port Coquitlam will have food trucks on site for the weekends.

Following last year’s inaugural run, the 2024 food truck program is on from June 7 to Sept. 29, with a vehicle north of the playground (2300 Lions Way) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays — anytime between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily.

And applications are now open for food truck or cart vendors who want to be part of the action; mobile business licences cost $25 a day.

Eligible food truck operators must have health authority approval, an inspection decal from the Greater Vancouver Fire Chiefs Association and a minimum $5 million in automotive liability insurance with an ICBC coverage confirmation.

To apply online, visit the city’s website.

Lions Park visitors can check the city’s social media channels (@cityofpoco) to find out who is serving each weekend day.

In Coquitlam, which has had a street vendor program since 2012, food trucks are parked around the Lafarge Lake–Douglas SkyTrain station; one spot is open near the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex and another on Hartley Avenue.

Meanwhile, in Port Moody, applications are open until June 17 for vendors to join the Car-Free Day on Aug. 18. The Tri-City News is a sponsor.
