Bye bye plants

Join the Burke Mountain Naturalists and Port Coquitlam city staff for an invasive plant removal party at Blakeburn Lagoons Park (off Elbow Place) from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring gloves, hand tools and shovels, if you can, as well as water and a snack for the physical work. Meet by the new washroom off Elbow Place.

Coffee with a cop

Coquitlam RCMP will host a Coffee with a Cop session from 10 a.m. to noon at Creekside Coffee Factory (103-3000 Lougheed Hwy., Coquitlam).

Hear the songs of Johnny Cash in a musical production from the Arts Club on Tour called Ring of Fire. The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam). Tickets are $59/$49/$16.
