Year of the Snake

Drop in to the City Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library (1169 Pinetree Way) from noon to 3 p.m. for the Lunar New Year party. Held in partnership with the YMCA Child Care Resource Referral and the Golden Maple Culture and Arts Association, the event includes crafts and cultural activities in English, Korean and Mandarin, for all ages.

United in Song

Director Ingrid Gay and pianist Vincent Lo lead Choral Connections in a concert called United in Song 2025. The show takes place at 2 p.m. in the Trinity United Church (2211 Prairie Ave., Port Coquitlam). Hockey at the Palace

Live music

Big Hank Lionhart and the Smokin’ Hot Toasters play Port Moody as part of the Inlet Theatre Music Series at city hall (100 Newport Dr.). Organized by Bill Sample and Darlene Cooper, the R&B, swing and blues show starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Inlet Theatre.

Sherlock Holmes

Enter the world of detective Sherlock Holmes in Baskerville, the second offering of the season by the Stage 43 Theatrical Society. Directed by Dale Kelly and written by Ken Ludwig, the play at 7:30 p.m. sees five actors portray more than 40 characters. Tickets are $30/$25.

Asian tunes

Catch Michelle Kwan on a Chinese guzheng instrument in a performance with Bushido, a Japanese folk-inspired duo, at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) at 8 p.m. The hour-long show is part of the facility’s Rehearsal Hall Sessions.

Salsa moves

Join Coquitlam’s Salsa Dance Zone for a beginners dance class at 8 p.m. at St. Clare’s Hall (2888 Delahaye Dr.) then party to the Latin beats from 9 p.m. to midnight. Parking is free. Admission is $15 at the door. The event is suitable for ages 19 and older.
