Six Tri-City actors are cast in the Stage 43’s next production — a comedic romp with Sherlock Holmes in the spotlight.
The Coquitlam theatrical troupe will mount Baskerville - A Sherlock Holmes Mystery at the Evergreen Cultural Centre from Jan. 16 to 25, 2025.
Penned by Ken Ludwig and based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel The Hound of the Baskervilles, the show is directed by Dale Kelly and stars the following Tri-City actors:
- Ryan Johnson
- as Sherlock Holmes
- Sharon Notarrigo
- as Dr. John Watson
- Parker Thompson
- as Sir Charles Baskerville and Sir Henry Baskerville
- Donna Thompson
- as Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Barrymore and Nurse Malloy
- Bruce Dunham
- as Dr. Mortimer, Wilson, Insp. Lestrade and Barrymore
- Reid Erring
- as the Man of Mystery
The play also features Burnaby actors Cheryl Minns, Alex Ross and Kelsey Robertson and James Shaw of Vancouver.
Notarrigo said she never imagined she would get the chance to portray Dr. Watson.
“Ken Ludwig’s masterful script, along with Dale Kelly’s amazingly creative direction, is giving me one of the most memorable theatre experiences I have ever had,” she said in a news release. “It’s funny, it’s fast-paced, it has wonderful characters and situations. We’re having such a fun time bringing this show to life and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
The production is the second in Stage 43’s 42nd season, called “Something for Everyone”; last October, it started with Opening Night by Norm Foster.
Its final show of the season is The Father: A Tragic Farce, written by Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton. It will be directed by Ocean Trudel-Poulin and runs in May 2025.
