Tri-City business operators and entrepreneurs can see their company’s name on a garbage truck, digital billboards and at bus stops as part of a newly expanded sponsorship program in Port Coquitlam.

In a move to offset event, festival and program costs for taxpayers, the city is offering a bigger selection of corporate sponsorship packages so that local businesses can also widen their marketing efforts.

Sponsorship levels include title perks and other tiers with different costs and benefits to businesses at such big gatherings as:

  • Mays Days
  • Canada Day
  • Car-Free Day
  • Winter in the City
  • Volunteer Recognition Awards gala
  • block parties
  • CPKC Holiday Train, of which Port Coquitlam is the cross-country terminus

“Port Coquitlam is known for hosting successful family-friendly events, festivals and programs that are well supported by our local community and attract thousands of people from across the region,” said Mayor Brad West in a news release.

“For businesses and organizations, sponsorship is a great way to align with a popular event and program, market themselves to a target audience and gain community goodwill.”

In-kind contributions to supply such goods and services as advertising, audio and visual, entertainment, food and drinks, photography, printing, door prizes and décor are also accepted as part of the city’s sponsorship program.

All companies donating time or money will be recognized in the city’s marketing materials; organizations and nonprofits are also encouraged to talk with city staff about activities they’d like to sponsor.
