Port Moody police is warning about a spike in property crimes in underground parkades in several neighbourhoods.
PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias said since the start of the year, officers have responded to “dozens” of reports of thefts from parked vehicles and break-ins to storage lockers at buildings in the Suter Brook, NewPort Village and Klahanie neighbourhoods.
In one recent event that occurred in the early hours of March 13, CCTV captured two suspects breaking into a parkade storage room. They made off with valuables.
Zacharias said police are attempting to identify the two men and anyone with information is asked to contact PMPD at 604-461-3456.
Zacharias said residents should always remove valuables from their vehicle and ensure they’re locked.
“As for storage lockers,” he added, “we suggest you document all items inside, check on your locker from time to time and ensure it is properly secured with heavy-duty locks.”
