Port Moody police looking for telephone wire thieves

There have been five incidents of telephone wire theft in the Ioco area of Port Moody in the past year.

Port Moody police are investigating several thefts of telephone wire that have occurred in the Ioco area over the past year.

Port Moody police (PMPD) are hoping anyone with information will help them solve who’s been stealing telephone wire in the Ioco area over the past year.

Since April 2024, officers have investigated five such incidents at Bedwell Bay and on First Avenue near Ioco Road.

The latest occurred at around 4 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the area of Ioco Road and First Avenue, said PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias in a news release.

He added two persons of interest have been identified and the incident remains under investigation.

The other thefts occurred:

  • April 25, 2024, at about 3 p.m. at Bedwell Bay near Thermal Plant Road
  • April 29, 2024, at about 6 a.m. at Bedwell Bay near Thermal Plant Road
  • May 9, 2024, at about 4:45 a.m. in the 2900-block of Bedwell Bay Road
  • May 21, 2024, at about 4 a.m., on First Avenue near Ioco Road

“These incidents have totalled thousands of dollars in losses and have impacted phone services to the surrounding areas at times,” said Zacharias, adding any suspicious activity should be reported to police immediately.
