A Port Moody police officer’s thirsting for a refreshing drink might just put a suspect with an outstanding warrant on ice.
PMPD spokesperson Sam Zacharias said an officer popped into a grocery store in the city’s Inlet Centre neighbourhood to buy an energy drink Saturday evening at around 6:30 p.m. when he noticed a male wandering the aisles while openly consuming liquor.
He said the officer detained the man and a query of his name turned up a B.C.-wide warrant for mischief charges in another jurisdiction.
Zacharias said the suspect was arrested without incident.
“The officer was just trying to purchase a caffeinated beverage and the wanted man’s illegal behaviour was so overt,” he said. “You never know where or when you might find someone who’s wanted.”
