Elementary school students in Port Coquitlam can now apply to be part of the city’s royal party for May Days 2025.
Pupils in grades 1 and 2 will be picked — in a random draw — to be flower girls and junior lancers, while students in grades 4 and 5 will be selected as princesses and lancers.
The deadline to submit an online form is Jan. 12, 2025.

If selected to be in the royal party, the chosen students will need to commit to the following activities for the 102nd annual May Days:
- hip hop dance practices
- Wednesdays and Fridays, from Feb. 5 to May 2 at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (no practices during spring break)
- flower girls and junior lancers practice from 4 to 4:40 p.m.
- princesses and lancers practice from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays and Fridays, from Feb. 5 to May 2 at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (no practices during spring break)
- royal party selection lunch
- March 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- opening ceremony rehearsal
- May 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- May Day opening ceremony performances
- May 4 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
- Rotary May Day parade
- May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Port Coquitlam students in grades 3 to 5 will also perform the maypole dances on Sunday, May 4 during the May Days opening ceremony; practices will be organized by the schools.
