Port Moody Police Department is issuing a warning after a residential break-in this month.

Port Moody police are recommending homeowners lock up — especially during the holiday season — after burglars raided an upper Heritage Woods house this week.

Spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias said the residential break and enter happened around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at a home near Maple and Sycamore drives.

Officers responding to a report of an alarm at the home found it empty when they arrived.

It’s believed the suspects fled with jewelry and other items of high value.

The break-in is now under investigation.

“We often see increases in residential break-ins during the holiday season,” stated Zacharias in a news release.

“We recommend residents secure their homes, look out for their neighbours and report any suspicious activity to police immediately.”

Anyone with CCTV or dash-camera footage of the area on Nov. 26 at around 6 p.m. is asked to call Port Moody Police at 604-461-3456 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
