Mall Pop-up Patio

  • When: Friday, Aug. 16, 4 to 8 p.m.

  • What: Coquitlam Centre is marking its 45th year with 1970s- and 80s-themed events, including live music and activities for all ages.

Music in TC Park

  • When: Friday, Aug. 16
    • 6 to 7 p.m.
  • What: Catch Pat Chessell entertain as part of the Evergreen Cultural Centre’s Open Air Performance Series this summer, just steps from Lafarge Lake.

Music in Blue Mountain Park

  • When: Friday, Aug. 16
    • 7 to 9 p.m.
  • What: Enjoy the music from Sebastian Gaskin, who is performing as part of the City of Coquitlam's Summer Concert Series.

Dog Days of Summer

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 17
    • noon to 3 p.m.
  • What: Get your dog ready for a Puppy Parade, portrait shoot and activities at Coquitlam Heritage's Dog Days of Summer. Vendors and community partners will be on site and prizes will be awarded for best dressed dog. Animals must be on leash.

Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Cruise and Show

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 17 (evening cruise)
    • Sunday, Aug. 18 (day show)
  • What: It’s the 10th year for the Downtown Port Coquitlam Car Show Cruise, which sees Show participants circle the city the night before. Hundreds of vintage, classic and muscle cars are registered in the Cruise that leaves Leigh Square at 6 p.m. and returns around 8 p.m. (see map in this article). On Sunday, tuck into a $5 breakfast before touring the downtown, where more than 400 vehicles will be on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the main stage and beverage garden run from 11 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Awards for best vehicles will be handed out at 4 p.m. Metro Ford is the show title sponsor.

Port Moody Car-Free Day

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 18
    • noon to 5 p.m.
  • What: St. Johns Street (from Douglas to Moody streets) will close to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the city’s annual car-free day festivities. Commuters are asked to detour via Clarke Street. The event will include live music, food and family-friendly activities; about 100 vendors will also be on site. The Tri-City News and TransLink are sponsors. And don't forget to bring an unopened, new pack of breakfast cereal for the SHARE food bank to help families with kids returning to school in September.

Riverview Walk

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 18
    • 1 to 3 p.m.
  • What: Take a tour around the world-class səmiq̓ʷəʔelə/Riverview Lands off Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam with Krista Braathen, a certified arborist and tree risk assessor with more than 20 years of experience in urban forestry management in the Lower Mainland. Dogs on leash are welcome.
  • Where: Meet at the upper entrance to the Henry Esson Young (HEY) building. Parking is at the northwestern corner of the HEY building. Watch for wayfinding signage onsite.

Summer Sundays

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 18
    • 2 to 4 p.m.
  • What: Grab a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the tunes from Barracuda, a Heart tribute band from Vancouver that's led by vocalist D.L. Car.
