A 23-year-old man is charged with four firearm offences after an investigation by Coquitlam RCMP’s Gang Enforcement Team.

Last month, the BC Prosecution Service approved the following counts against Tyrel O’Hearn:

  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • occupy a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited firearm
  • possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • store or transport a firearm in a manner contrary to a regulation of the Firearms Act

O’Hearn was released by the courts on Feb. 7, 2025, “on numerous conditions, including not to possess weapons,” according to a news release from Coquitlam RCMP media spokesperson Const. John Graham.

O’Hearn is due to return to court on March 26, 2025.

“After an extensive investigation by the Coquitlam RCMP Gang Enforcement Team (CGET), multiple charges against Tyrel O’Hearn, were approved,” Graham said in the statement. “CGET conducts proactive uniformed patrols and investigations to ensure our citizens and neighbourhoods are safe."

He added, "The Coquitlam RCMP and our CGET officers have a multi-faceted approach to policing which help keep guns and gangs off of our streets and out of our communities.”
