Coquitlam arts hub needs volunteer directors for its 2025 board

Volunteers with expertise in law, financial management or accounting, and information technology are needed to be part of the nonprofit organization in Maillardville.

An arts centre in Coquitlam that’s run for more than half a century is calling for professionals to join its board of directors.

Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave.) seeks volunteers in the Lower Mainland with expertise in law, financial management or accounting, and information technology to be part of the nonprofit organization.


The deadline to apply is Feb. 21, 2025 through the Place des Arts’ website.


Candidates must be able to attend board meetings each month; there are at least 10 a year, currently held on the third or fourth Wednesday of the month via Zoom.

As well, directors should be able to:

  • attend Place des Arts events and other community outreach
  • lead or help with at least one board committee
  • support fundraising goals

The current board is made up of:

  • Matthew Sebastiani, president
  • Diane Tucker, vice-president
  • Barb Hobson, treasurer
  • Rachel Mai, secretary
  • Sarah Brito, director
  • Ted Lau, director

Place des Arts’ administrative staff is lead by executive director Joan McCauley.

Finalists for the board of directors’ positions will be contacted for an interview and those who are asked to join the board will be required to provide a police information check form with a vulnerable sector screening, as well as references.
