A Port Moody filmmaker is directing her first full-length horror movie this year.

And she’s calling on Tri-City teens to be part of the show.

Sarah Benson of Film Fox Entertainment has posted signs on light standards around the City Centre neighbourhood to invite emerging actors — ages 14 to 18 — to audition for Adder’s Creek.

Benson said she’s hoping the thriller will be screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival next year.

The plot centres on the character Nathan Miller, a Grade 12 student who, with his friends, discovers corpses and cult symbols around town before his brother disappears.

Benson, who is also the screenwriter, editor and creator, told the Tri-City News today, July 3, that the flick will be shot around the Tri-Cities and posted on YouTube once complete.

Her production company is looking for participants to be available from late August to October  — mostly on the weekends and sometimes after school — to play the following roles:

  • Don and Paris
    • siblings of Korean descent
  • Nicky
    • a young adult of African descent
  • Anaise
    • a Muslim girl
  • Becca
    • an androgynous teen

There is no remuneration.

The entry deadline for the casting call is Wednesday, July 10, by emailing [email protected].
