Seven years ago, Linda Fabbro joined the Coquitlam Art Club at the recommendation of a friend.
And since then, the Coquitlam resident has taken part in every one of its art shows and sales at the Dogwood Pavilion, a 50+ hub on Winslow Avenue.
Next weekend, on June 22 and 23, she and other club members will display hundreds of pieces at its summer exhibition, of which the feature presentation is “Blooms and Branches — Celebrating Nature’s Splendor.”
For Fabbro, she’ll have 20 acrylic paintings at her table — mostly images of flowers and landscapes.
“I encourage people to attend our art show,” she said.
“There will be paintings and art cards at reasonable prices. There will be a free draw and painting demonstrations to watch.”
Now boasting 45 members, the club is a good way for seniors to socialize and share artistic ideas, she said.
In the summer, it also takes en plein air painting field trips.
“Art club members create with various media — watercolours, acrylics, oils — to ply their talent,” said Patricia Barrett, Coquitlam Art Club’s vice president.
There is free admission to the Coquitlam Art Club’s summer show on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in the Centennial Room at Dogwood Pavilion (1655 Winslow Ave., Coquitlam).
Meanwhile, the civic facility will be busy with the annual rose and woodworking shows on the weekend; as well, on Sunday, the farmers market takes place in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
