Coquitlam’s Kyler Kovich is among eight players picked from the BC Hockey League for the 15th annual Canadian Junior Hockey League prospect showcase between teams representing Eastern and Western Canada in Hamilton, Ont., Jan. 14.
The game is to highligh some of the top NHL draft-eligible prospects playing in the CJHL.
Kovich is enjoying a solid sophomore season with the Nanaimo Clippers. He’s scored 11 goals and 13 assists so far this year over 32 games, after debuting on the Junior A circuit last year with seven goals and seven assists in 48 games.
Kovich, 18, was also named the BCHL’s high school player of the month for October after he accumulated seven goals and four assists in 12 games, while also maintaining an A grade in nine of 12 courses.
He’ll be joined at the prospects game by his former teammate at Burnaby Winter Club, defenceman Ryan Helliwell, of the Langley Rivermen. The other BCHL players are: goaltender Jackson Glassford, of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs; defenceman Trey Taylor, of the Vernon Vipers; forwards Ethan Bowen, of the Chilliwack Chiefs; Luke Mylymok of the Salmon Arm Silverbacks; Danny Weight of the Penticton Vees and Luc Wilson, of the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
