Vintage Date Night

Learn about Valentine’s Day over the years at the Edwardian-era Mackin House (1116 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam), one of the oldest homes in the city. Take your sweetie on a tour with the curator and write a love letter. No registration is required for the drop-in, which runs from 3 to 9 p.m. Entry is by donation.

Love Affair

Take your sweetie or pal to Site B (3012 Murray St., Port Moody) for the Love Affair Valentine's bash hosted by Macrose Entertainment. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and features a Salsa dance lesson, tunes from the Ranch Park Wranglers, a Dating Game contest and an DJ dance. Food will be provided and a cash bar is open. Tickets are $50 plus tax.

Coffeehouse tunes

Hear music from Gary Poole and Kevin Craib, followed by a cellphone singalong of pop love songs with Bill and Kate — and headliners Wayne and Gord — at the bimonthly Crossroads Coffeehouse, a fundraiser for the Tri-City hospice, happening in the Gathering Place at Leigh Square (200-2253 Leigh Sq., Port Coquitlam). Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10.

Disney Descendants

Young musical theatre students under the Theatrix program perform Disney’s Descendants: The Musical at the Evergreen Cultural Centre (1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20/$15/$12.

Grease is the word

Centennial Secondary students Siryn and Phoenix Cowie direct the musical theatre students at the Coquitlam high school (570 Poirier St.) in Grease, with choreography by Makenna and Tessa Jung. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $19/$15.

Legion music

Listen to the tunes from Lou Morrocco at the Royal Canadian Legion (1025 Ridgeway Ave., Coquitlam). The band performs from 7 to 10 p.m.

Past Lives

Meet two childhood friends from South Korea who reunite 20 years later in New York City in the film Past Lives. Presented by the Port Moody Film Society, the 2023 movie rolls at 7:30 p.m. in the Inlet Theatre (inside Port Moody City Hall, 100 Newport Dr.). Entry is $5 per person (cash or cheque) plus a $5 society membership fee for the year.
