Said the Whale

Grab a seat at the Town Centre Park Community Plaza (1299 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam) for the last show in the City of Coquitlam’s Summer Concert Series. At 6 p.m., Coquitlam’s Etienne Siew plays his alternative folk/roots tunes while, at 7:30 p.m., the JUNO Award-winning band Said the Whale takes the stage for a 90-minute show.

PoCo Hockey

Cheer on the Port Coquitlam Trailblazers as the junior "A" hockey club battles North Vancouver on home ice at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) at 7 p.m. Eagle Ridge Chevrolet Buick GMC will host a barbecue at 6 p.m. for game attendees; youth tickets are $5 for a back-to-school special.

PdA Exhibits

Meet the artists behind the latest exhibits at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). Molly Grab has Avifauna (printmaking and watercolours); Garrett Andrew Chong is displaying Eroded Origins: Liminal Illusions Amidst Climatic Transformations (digital photography and videos); and Nancy Whiteside is presenting Tetrochromatic Visions (acrylic paintings). The reception is from 7 to 9 p.m.

Hockey Action

Grab a seat at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam) for an exhibition home game between the Coquitlam Express and Prince George. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
