A Vancouver party band will launch the 28th season of concerts and gallery shows at Coquitlam’s Evergreen Cultural Centre next month.
The Pinetree Way venue hosts the free dance for the public to boogie to tunes from the Famous Players Band on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
There is no cost to attend; however, registration is required for the dance via the Evergreen website or call 604-927-6555.
Evergreen will open its doors for its annual celebration on Sept. 14 starting at 3:30 p.m. with a family-friendly arts workshop.
At 4:30 p.m., artist Cindy Mochizuki will lead a tour of her new exhibit at the Art Gallery at Evergreen called stories best told at twilight.
At 6 p.m., there'll be speeches and music from The Uppatones while, at 7 p.m, the festivities move into the Studio Theatre where the Famous Players will be ushering in the new artistic season with popular music to get your feet moving.
Comedy weekend
Meanwhile, The Comic Strippers are back at their home base of Evergreen this weekend for three performances.
Tonight, Aug. 23, The Comedy Department — made up of Comic Strippers actors Denise Jones, David Milchard and Michael Teigen, who grew up in Coquitlam — have Pants on Fire! while on Saturday, Aug. 24, Roman Danylo and his Stripper “Chips” will have their fictitious troupe in Good Times and Tan Lines.
Stripper Pearce Visser will lead an improv workshop at Evergreen on Sunday, Aug. 25.
