A Port Moody guitarist and composer is a subject in a short documentary that will premiere in Vancouver this week.

Alvaro Rojas is in Season 2 of Re:location that rolls at the VanCity Theatre (1181 Seymour St.) on Thursday, Oct. 10, as part of the Latin Expressions program by the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre (VLACC).

The directors, Yoel Ortega and Javier Aparisi, as well as the featured artists — Rojas (music); Andy Alvarez (film); Pedro Chamale (theatre); Carol Mendes (dance); and Yaimel López (visual arts) — will answer questions after the screening about their perspectives of being working artists in a new country.

Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. documentary are $20 via the VLACC website.

Running until Oct. 26, the VLACC program is a celebration of Latin American Heritage Month in October.

Its main event is a concert on Sunday, Oct. 13 by the Polaris prize winner Lido Pimienta, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

The music from the Toronto-based Colombian artist was on Barack Obama’s playlist for 2020.
