Port Coquitlam woman dies in fatal weekend Okanagan crash

A Port Coquitlam woman was found dead at the scene of a single-vehicle collision in the north Okanagan this past weekend.

She was one of two women, both from PoCo, involved in the crash on Sunday, Aug. 11, along the Trans Canada Highway east of Savona — a community roughly 45 km west of Kamloops.

The passenger died from the incident, while the driver was taken to hospital with serious "and believed to be life threatening injuries," according to Mounties.

Tk’emlups Rural RCMP and BC Highway Patrol responded to the crash.

"Early investigation suggested a pick-up truck travelling east and carrying two people struck the ditch. After overcorrecting, the truck rolled over into the westbound ditch," said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy in a news release today, Aug. 12.

"Both occupants were trapped inside, with the Fire Department having to assist with extraction."

The BC Coroners Service has since been called to help with the investigation.
