Update: 'Person of interest' identified in Coquitlam pool investigation

RCMP say a "person of interest" has been identified in an investigation into an incident at a Coquitlam pool earlier this year.

In an update, spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins said officers have spoken with the man in question since the public appeal.

She said the case is still ongoing, involving an incident at the City Centre Aquatic Complex before 6 p.m. on April 11.

Additional details of the investigation are not publicly known, as of this publication.

A man who was at Coquitlam’s City Centre Aquatic Centre this spring is being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation.

Today, Aug. 1, Coquitlam RCMP released three images of the man, described as a “person of interest,” following an incident that happened at the Pinetree Way pool on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 5:50 p.m.

He left the scene before police arrived, Mounties spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins stated in the news release.

The man is described as:

  • Asian
  • 30 to 40 years old
  • roughly 5’6” tall
  • heavy set
  • short black hair

He was last seen wearing:

  • black swim shorts
    • with blue stripes on the sides

“In an ongoing effort to identify this man, we are now asking the public if anyone recognizes or knows this individual,” Hodgins said.
