The Glen Pine Pavilion is located at 1200 Glen Pine Crt., south of Coquitlam City Hall.

A Coquitlam facility that serves residents ages 50 and up is getting a facelift this summer.

Between Aug. 14 and Sept. 3, Glen Pine Pavilion will undergo a $275,000 interior boost with:

  • a fresh coat of paint
  • new kitchen equipment
  • new safety flooring in the kitchen
  • new carpet and marmoleum flooring in public areas
  • a refinishing of existing wood flooring

While the hub will reopen Sept. 4, the Lemon Tree Café and kitchen area will return on Sept. 9.

Some walkways around the centre will also be closed to the public during construction.

Karen Basi, Coquitlam’s manager of community recreation, told the Tri-City News that Glen Pine users and members were notified about the upcoming work through the Glen Pine Seniors Advisory Board, and directly if they were registered in a program. Signs are also posted onsite.

“The upcoming Glen Pine Pavilion renovation is scheduled for this August, as the summer is the least busy time for the patrons of Glen Pine Pavilion and has the least impact to programming,” Basi said.

“We will be ready to go for our fall season when the majority of our patrons come back. Our programming team has also worked with user groups to find alternative spaces in the area for some programs.”

Basi said Glen Pine’s sister facility, Dogwood Pavilion, will also have a refresh within the next five years, but will not require the entire building to close.
