Photos + Video: Motorcyclist dies in Coquitlam crash Wednesday night

The accident happened at Glen Drive and Pipeline Road in Coquitlam's City Centre neighbourhood on Aug. 7, 2024.

A 31-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Coquitlam’s City Centre neighbourhood Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Police say the accident happened at 8:50 p.m. at Glen Drive and Pipeline Road with a white GMC Yukon SUV.

In a news release, police said the motorcyclist, a Coquitlam resident, was travelling east on Glen Drive, close to the Pipeline intersection, when the crash happened with the SUV, which was heading south on Pipeline.

The SUV driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, officers say. Driver impairment was not believed to be a factor.

The road was closed while emergency personnel and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigated.

Police have spoken to a number of witnesses who remained on scene when officers attended, said Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins in the release. 

We are asking anyone who may have seen the motorcycle or white GMC Yukon before the collision, witnessed the collision or may have video in the area of Pipeline Road and Glen Drive in Coquitlam between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to contact our investigators.
