No significant updates have been made public in the week since Port Moody's first known shooting of the year.
However, it's been confirmed that investigators with the local department's (PMPD) major crimes section have taken lead on the Remembrance Day incident from Klahanie Drive.
As well, officers have conducted more canvassing of the area to ensure public safety.
"I also understand that this particular incident is very unnerving for the community," PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias recently told the Tri-City News.
"Our frontline officers have stepped up patrols and presence in this neighbourhood."
He added the case is still active and ongoing, lwhich likely means not much information is ready to be publicly released.
Fortunately, there were no apparent injuries or damage when PMPD was called to the scene following reports of shots fired around 4 a.m. on Nov. 11.
When first responders arrived in the 600-block of Klahanie Drive, "numerous" shell casings were found and witnesses indicated they heard a vehicle speeding away from the neighbourhood.
A forensics team collected evidence, but as it appears suspects have yet to be identified as of this publication (Nov. 19), the PMPD is still seeking the public's help in possibly providing more details to move the case forward.
"At this time we are still seeking any video/dash cam that anyone has of the incident," added Zacharias.
Anyone with more information or video about the incident is encouraged to call PMPD at 604-461-3456 and quote file-number 2022-5922.
Klahanie, a neighbourhood consisting of townhomes, apartment buildings and small businesses, is about a 15-minute walk east of Rocky Point Park and west of Port Moody city hall.
