No one appears to be injured and no damage was discovered from an apparent shooting in Port Moody this morning (Nov. 11).
However, after finding "numerous" shell casings, local police (PMPD) are now seeking the public's help to investigate the root cause of the Remembrance Day incident.
Officers were called around 4 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 600-block of Klahanie Drive and conducted a search of the area for evidence.
In a statement, PMPD spokesperson Const. Sam Zacharias explained, in addition to the shell casings, witnesses claimed to have heard a vehicle speeding away from the neighbourhood.
He added officers with the forensics team are "processing the scene," as of this publication.
Port Moody's Klahanie area is about a block from Inlet Field and Rocky Point parks, as well as city hall, primarily consisting of townhomes, apartments and small businesses.
Police are seeking other witnesses to the shooting and evidence that can move the investigation forward, including dash cam, CCTV and general video footage.
Anyone with more information about the incident is encouraged to call PMPD at 604-461-3456 and quote file-number 2022-5922.
If confirmed, this would be Port Moody's first known shooting incident in the city for all of 2022.
In March, a vehicle was set on fire along Chickadee Place that was connected to a targeted shooting in Coquitlam.
