World of Love

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 24
    • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • What: The North America Chinese Cultural Promotion Society hosts the third annual World of Love Multicultural Carnival, featuring performances, a lantern show, activities and food. The opening ceremony is at 3 p.m. The event received a 2024 Spirit of Coquitlam grant from the city.

Mix and Match Creatures

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 24
    • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • What: Join Nickie Lewis, Port Coquitlam’s summer artist-in-residence, as she unveils her series of organic eco-sculptures that she constructed with sticks, moss and other plants. Lewis will also run a workshop to teach participants how to create woven hearts with sticks and twine. Children ages 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Girls hockey

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 24 
    • 5 to 6 p.m.
  • What: Girls ages four to 15 can try out hockey with the Tri-Cities Female Ice Hockey Club. Skates, helmet and hockey gear can be borrowed.

Coquitlam Farmers Market

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 25
    • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • What: Meet the vendors selling local fare at the weekly farmers market. And don’t forget to say hello to the members of CFUW-Coquitlam, who will have a booth set up to build awareness about their nonprofit. As well, you can sign up to take part in a free community sound bath with Mila Earth. Participants to the workshop, from 11 a.m. to noon, are asked to register in advance and bring a yoga mat, pillow, towel or eye mask, and water.

Benefit of Trees

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • What: Wondrous Tree Fellowship invites you to its second Health Benefits of Trees workshop to explore the many ways that trees provide health benefits, to learn how to make the healing Balm of Gilead salve with herbalist Joanna Giroux and to be introduced to the practice of forest bathing with Sandy Lemonnier.

Summer Sundays

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 25, 2 p.m.
  • What: Eagle Eyes, an Eagles’ tribute band, closes the 2024 Summer Sundays concert series with a show on the PCT Performance stage. The four-member ensemble is from southern Vancouver Island. Donations are accepted for the Crossroads Hospice Society.

Cinema Under the Stars

  • When: Sunday, Aug. 25
    • 8:45 p.m.
  • What: The City of Port Coquitlam presents its last Cinema Under the Stars presentation of the summer with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a 2024 supernatural comedy flick starring Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and Fin Wolfhard. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and William Atherton also reprise their roles from earlier films in the Ghostbuster movie franchise.
