Kerry van Aswegen is the BC Conservative candidate for Port Moody–Burquitlam in the 2024 provincial election, set for Saturday, Oct. 19.

Re: Housing a central theme in discussion between Port Moody–Burquitlam candidates (Oct. 3, 2024)

Port Moody–Burquitlam MLA Rick Glumac of the BC NDP and BC Green Party candidate Samantha Agtarap participated in the discussion, but BC Conservative candidate Kerry van Aswegen (pictured) did not attend.

The non-appearance of the Conservative candidate at the discussion is not an isolated incident.

It seems that all Conservative candidates across the province have been muzzled and told not to participate in community meetings.

What is Conservative leader John Rustad afraid of that he would prevent his candidates from appearing at a meeting designed to give voters a chance to see and hear those who would represent them in Victoria?

Is he afraid that his proposed policies would not stand the exposure that a public meeting would bring?

Is he afraid that his candidates will say the wrong thing?

Is John Rustad afraid of the democratic process that is our B.C. electoral system?
