A charity that houses and supports young moms and fosters teens returns to Coquitlam and Burnaby with live Christmas trees next week.
On Saturday, Nov. 25, Aunt Leah's will open its lot at the Eagle Ridge United Church, by Gleneagle Secondary School, and Burnaby's All Saints Anglican Church to sell freshly cut trees for the holidays.
The group has been raising funds with B.C.- and Washington State-grown trees for more than 25 years at lots in Coquitlam, Burnaby and Vancouver — with 100 per cent of the profits going to Aunt Leah’s programs and services.
According to a news release, about half of B.C.’s foster youth will experience homelessness.
The lots are open:
Coquitlam
- Eagle Ridge United (2813 Glen Dr.)
- Monday to Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m.
- Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Burnaby
- All Saints Anglican Church (7405 Royal Oak Ave.)
- Monday to Thursday, 1 to 8 p.m.
- Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Vancouver
- St. Stephen's United Church (7025 Granville St.)
- Monday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, volunteers are also needed to operate the lots. Positions open include cashiers, customer service representatives and haulers who can lift and load 50 lbs.
Teens ages 14 and 15 can volunteer with their parents.
