Start the Advent season with a free wreath-making workshop at a Port Moody church this month.
The Inlet United Church (2315 Spring St.) hosts the family-friendly pre-Christmas crafting session on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.
All materials, including candles and freshly cut greens from native plant species, will be provided to participants; however, if you’d like to add a special touch to your wreath like an ornament or bow, bring it with you to the workshop along with pruning clippers or strong scissors.
Hot drinks and snacks will be served.
Rev. Jennifer Swanson said the congregation will light the church’s large Advent wreath weekly starting on Sunday, Nov. 26.
At the same time, it will mark the 205th anniversary of the Christmas song “Silent Night.”
“Given all that is happening in the world, we could certainly use a little ‘calm and bright’ right now,” she said in a news release.
Advent is the first season of the Christian church year that leads up to Christmas and includes the four preceding Sundays.
To register for the wreath-making workshop, you can call the church office at 604-939-5513 or email [email protected]. Donations will be accepted.
