Homicide investigators have released a criminal profile of the person believed to have killed Burnaby teenager Marrisa Shen.
Shen was reported missing by her family on July 18, 2017 and was later found dead in Burnaby’s Central Park.
Police deemed her death to be a random killing.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has now consulted with the RCMP behavioural sciences group to develop a criminal profile of the person believed to be responsible for Shen’s death.
They believe the killer may have lived near Central Park and may have demonstrated any of the following behaviours after Shen’s death: they may have unexpectedly moved, permanently or temporarily, they may have uncharacteristically avoided the Central Park area, missed work or scheduled appointments, shown suicidal gestures or attempts, shown interest in or special attention to the media coverage related to Shen’s death and increased or decreased their drug or alcohol use.
“I strongly urge anyone with information or anyone who may recognize these characteristics and behaviours in someone they know, to please come forward and speak with IHIT,” Cpl. Frank Jang stated in a press release Tuesday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at [email protected].
