Port Moody residents will pay more for an annual pass to launch a boat at Rocky Point Park next year, while the annual fee for non-residents remains at $500.
The increase to $300 from its current $285 is among several boosts to fees for various city services approved by council at its meeting on Nov. 26.
A daily pass for the boat ramp for all users is going up to $45 in the new year from $40. The price includes parking in the adjacent lot.
According to a staff report, some fees were increased to bring them in line with similar services in neighbouring communities while others went up two to five per cent to reflect inflation pressures.
Several fees for services provided by the city’s fire department and information services as well as the cost of some business licenses, bylaw, building and planning fees are staying the same as their 2024 rates.
Some of the notable increases include a 20-cent boost to the cost for adults participating in drop-in recreation programs to $6.05 in 2025 from the $5.85 rate that’s been in effect since Sept. 1, 2023.
Children 12 and under, as well as teens from 13 to 18, will see a five-cent increase to their rates while the cost for students from 19 to 25 with valid full-time student ID, and seniors from 60 to 84, goes up to $4.70. The rate for seniors 85 and over goes up 10 cents.
The cost for 11-visit swipe cards, as well as all longer-term passes is going up for all age groups.
Admission to Port Moody’s two outdoor pools will remain at $2.
Renting a picnic shelter at Rocky Point or Old Orchard parks will go up in 2025 as will a one-hour booking of a multisport box, the gym floor at the recreation complex and a two-hour booking of the PCT performance stage at Rocky Point Park.
A full schedule of the new fees is to be posted on the city’s website.
