More recreation programs have been cancelled in Coquitlam as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city said Friday it would be extending the cancellations until June 30 and delaying any new registrations to meet current public health requirements. The decision was made to provide certainty to people while physical distancing protocols remain necessary, the city said in a press release.
However, while programs are done until July 1, events and rentals at city parks and facilities have not yet been cancelled and bookings are still being accepted for after June 1.
And the city said it is still moving forward with some its larger summer events, like Canada Day, the Summer Concert Series and Kaleidoscope, although the release noted that these plans could change.
In the meantime, the city is encouraging residents to take part in free online activities.
Fitness instructional videos with written workout plans have been posted at www.coquitlam.ca/fitness while some educational activities for children and families can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/onlinerec.
