These creatures are secretive and usually hard to see so a snapshot by a jogger on Sunday is a rare find

A bit of fitness turned out to be a rare opportunity to see some amazing wildlife.

A jogger snapped a photo of a bobcat strolling across the Lincoln Avenue pedestrian walkway Sunday, April 29 at about 2:30 p.m.

The normally secretive creature was using the overpass as a way to cross the Coquitlam River.

The creatures are rarely sighted by casual observers and are not considered dangerous while the current minimum population estimate for bobcats in the southwest region is just 600 animals, according to Ministry of Environment information.

The big cats are often confused for cougars when they are reported to B.C. conservation officers.
