A North Vancouver-based business specializing in outdoor clothing and gear is opening a store in Coquitlam.
Arc'teryx is expected to launch a shop at Coquitlam Centre mall in the late summer, a company spokesperson told the Tri-City News today, May 16.
The move comes after Arc'teryx opened a store on Bloor Street in Toronto on Saturday, May 11, and prior to a Kelowna store opening.
Currently, Arc'teryx has locations in B.C. at:
- Burnaby
- Richmond
- Vancouver
- North Vancouver
- West Vancouver
- Vancouver
- Kitsilano
- Whistler
- Victoria
Catering to outdoor enthusiasts and especially fans of alpine sports, with waterproof Gore-Tex shell jackets, knitwear and down parkas, Arc'teryx has a name and logo that reference the archaeopteryx — a bird-like dinosaur (the brand is often known as “dead bird).
The company was established in 1989 as Rock Solid, but rebranded in 1991 as Arc'teryx.
In 2001, it was sold to the Salomon Group and, four years later, to Amer Sports, a Finnish retailer.
Recently, the company has co-created collections with high-end fashion brands and designers for street wear.
