A public pool in Port Coquitlam will temporarily close on April Fool's Day — no joke.
The leisure tank at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.) will be shut from April 1 to 14, 2025, for its annual scrub.
According to a city news release, the scheduled deep clean and maintenance updates will include draining and repairing the pool, re-grouting the tiles, painting and updating the mechanical systems.
Still, while there will be no swimming for two weeks, the facility’s weight room, arenas and gym will be open during regular operating hours. As well, customer service representatives will be on hand to answer questions and help with registrations.
In the meantime, swimmers are asked to use the city’s other pool inside the Hyde Creek Community Centre (1379 Laurier Ave.) in North PoCo. That location has:
- a six-lane, 25-metre lap pool
- a leisure pool
- a hot tub, steam room and sauna
- a waterslide and river run
- change rooms and food services
For the Hyde Creek pool schedule, visit the city’s website.
