A Coquitlam actor is in Canadian premiere of 'The Da Vinci Code'

Tickets are now on sale to see the Canadian stage début of "The Da Vinci Code" featuring Coquitlam's Jeffrey Kim.

A Coquitlam actor is cast in the Canadian premiere of The Da Vinci Code.

Opening Jan. 29, the Theatre in the Country (TIC) production features Jeffrey Kim as Remy Legaludec, a character with special skills, in the stage adaptation of Dan Brown’s 2003 bestselling novel.

Written by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel, the fast-moving play about cryptic codes, ancient secrets and tale twists runs until Feb. 15 in Langley.

Tom Hanks took the lead role of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon in the 2006 movie version while the play had its world début in England in 2022 before touring the U.K.; however, the run closed early because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The North American premiere was in September 2023 at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.

“Adapting such a sweeping adventure for the stage is both a challenge and an honour,” said TIC artistic director Reg Parks in a news release.

“Our amazing cast and crew are excited to bring the intrigue and drama of Dan Brown’s novel to life for our audiences.”

Tickets for The Da Vinci Code are now on sale by calling TIC at 778-908-2521, emailing [email protected] or visiting the website. The show is at 7:30 p.m., or 6:30 p.m. for a dinner and theatre. A matinee is on Feb. 8.
