WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam) hosts a Day of the Arts for kids from kindergarten to Grade 5, where they can explore adventures in the jungle, mould a clay jungle scene, paint a chameleon and more from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Register at www.placedesarts.ca or 604-664-1636.

TIME TO SHINE

Tri-City students from the Hope Lutheran Christian School's Hope Choir, Blakeburn Singers and Coastal Sound Music Academy's children's choir join forces in Shine, an evening of live entertainment to support the Share food bank. FAMILY WALK

STITCH-IN

Be part of Port Moody's centennial wall hanging by taking part in the daily stitch-in, happening at the city hall Galleria (100 Newport Dr.) daily from 2 to 4 p.m. (until March 1). Experts will be available to guide you along as you add stitches to images that will be added to the wall hanging.

HERITAGE TOUR

Port Moody's centennial celebrations offer Heritage House Tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costumed hosts will talk about the architecture and family history of the 10 homes on the tour, ranging from Moody Centre to Seaview, Oxford Park and Glenayre. Tickets are $30, available at the Port Moody Station Museum (2734 Murray St.) or at www.portmoodymuseum.org.

WINTER MARKET

GOSPEL CHOIR

The Port Coquitlam Sunday Coffee Concert Series gets a dose of high-energy fun when the VOC Soul Gospel Choir performs at the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, PoCo) at 2 p.m. The 130-member choir sings six-part harmony and draws on Hawaiian, calypso, reggae soul, R&B and jazz sounds. MINNEKHADA MINUTE

Celebrate Heritage Week in B.C. with a visit to the historic Minnekhada Lodge from 1 to 4 p.m. A park interpreter will guide you on a tour of the lodge, used by two of B.C.'s lieutenant-governors as a hunting retreat, complete with activities for kids. Park near the lodge off Oliver Road in Minnekhada Regional Park.
