KidSport Sale

Help families in financial need get their children in organized sports by supporting the KidSport Used Equipment Sale, happening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Poirier Forum (618 Poirier St., Coquitlam). Admission is by donation or with a non-perishable item for the SHARE food bank. Donations of gently used sports clothing and gear is accepted until Sept. 6 at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (Arena 3) and the Port Moody Recreation Complex.

Repair Café

Take your broken household items to the monthly Repair Café, where volunteers will be on hand to help you fix your wares. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Port Coquitlam Public Works Yard (1737 Broadway St.). Donations are accepted.

Car-Free Day

Take a walk along McAllister Avenue in Port Coquitlam from noon to 8 p.m. for the city’s second annual Car-Free Day presented by TransLink, next to Port Coquitlam City Hall. The free festival will have two stage areas as well as food and beverages, electric vehicle displays and family fun. A bike valet service will be on site. Among the performers are Michaela Slinger, Shauna Singer, Robin Layne, the Beauty Shop Dolls, The Coyotes and The Limit. Non-perishable donations are accepted for the SHARE food bank.

WHL Game

Catch a Western Hockey League pre-season game between the Vancouver Giants and Victoria Royals at 7 p.m. in the Jon Baillie Arena at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.). Tickets are $16.

Legion Music

Dance to the country tunes from Black Eyed Susan at the Royal Canadian Legion branch in Coquitlam (1025 Ridgeway Ave.). The show is from 7 to 11 p.m.

Salsa Night

Join Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler of the Salsa Dance Zone to try out some Salsa, bachata, merengue and cha-cha-cha steps in a beginners’ class at 8 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.). Admission is $15 at the door and no partner is needed. The adult-only dance party is from 9 p.m. to midnight.
