IN MEMORY

A New Westminster Police officer who spent his final days at Port Moody's Crossroads Hospice was remembered by his former colleagues recently. The police department donated $20,000 to the society - money that was swung in through its annual Keith Logan Memorial Golf Tournament. Logan, who died from cancer in 2007, was a 17-year cop who help to start the Municipal Undercover Program. To date, the tourney has raised $60,000 for Crossroads.

FOR THE BABES

Physicians at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, which also serves the Tri-Cities, took time out of their jobs to raise funds at the institution's 150-year reunion for medical staff. The $2,000 will go to support the neonatal intensive care and cardiology programs at RCH.

PESTS BE GONE

Jen Fahey, manager of the Port Coquitlam Vancity Credit Union, presented $10,000 to the Institute of Urban Ecology at Douglas College. The money will support the UNIBUG project that sees community gardeners partner with IUE on researching alternatives to chemical pesticides in urban gardens.
