Looking for a bargain?
Maillardville Residents' Association is hosting its fifth annual Giant Garage Sale this Saturday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1007 Alderson Ave., Coquitlam.
"All proceeds from the sale are returned into community projects," said MRA president Al Boire.
Indeed, at last month's annual general meeting, the association announced that it was establishing two new student bursaries of $500 each beginning in the 2012/'13 school year.
Barb Hobson, MRA vice-president, who initiated the bursary project said: "We are very excited about establishing these two bursaries and look forward to presenting them on a yearly basis to deserving students in our community."
The garage sale has something to offer everyone. Besides a variety of items for sale, there will be barbecued hot dogs, homemade chilli and a bake sale. Patrons will be serenaded with French Canadian music and there will be free helium balloons and magic for the kids.
