A piece of property next to Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam is now in the hands of Port Coquitlam city hall.
And while no plans have been made for the future of Elk’s Hall, 2272 Leigh Square, it’s a strategic property that will help the city revitalize its downtown, says the city’s’ mayor.
Listed at $12 a square foot, Elks Hall was posted on a number of realtor sites, which noted that it was equipped with a full kitchen, offices, gathering hall, multi stall washrooms, and more.
There is also on site parking available.
“There’s no immediate plans so there is nothing imminent that’s gong to happen,” said Mayor Brad West, however, he noted that it will help the city in its plans to eventually complete the Donald Pathway to McAllister Avenue.
It sits next to Leigh Square, a popular gathering place for community events, including the Farmers’ Market.
Acquiring strategic properties to enhance the city’s downtown is one of the aims of the downtown action plan.
However, the city will not disclose the purchase price, saying its a confidential land matter.
