Matthew Sebastiani is seeking the federal Conservative Party nomination in the riding of Port Moody-Coquitlam.

A long-time Tri-City politician is backing a candidate seeking the Conservative Party nomination in Port Moody-Coquitlam.

Linda Reimer, who was previously Liberal MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam and a Coquitlam councillor, is supporting Matthew Sebastiani who officially announced his intention to seek the nomination at the end of December.

“I have known Matthew for approximately 10 years now. He is a very principled individual whose passion for serving is immense,” Reimer stated in her endorsement, noting that Sebastiani was born and raised in the Port Moody-Coquitlam riding.

Sebastiani has worked in government, financial services and biotech, according to his press release, and was a policy advisor to Senator Yonah Martin when she was the deputy leader of the opposition in the Senate.

He also worked as an insurance broker prior to entering the MBA program at UBC.He is currently the president of the Vancouver Chapter of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, helping to fundraise for a cure and better patient programs. Sebastiani is also a community representative on Coquitlam’s Universal Access-Ability Advisory Committee.

Sebastiani is the second Conservative to announce his intentions in recent weeks.
