Redtails roll to bronze at BC's

Port Moody Redtails turned bronze at the B.C. provincial Squirt 'C' (11-12) fastpitch championships last weekend in Kamloops.

The Redtails finished 2-2 in the round-robin portion of the 16-team event, then lost their first playoff game before rattling off three straight victories.

The Redtails then dropped their semifinal clash with the Ridge Meadows Tigers 11-9 to capture third spot.

Players on the Redtails included Abby Church, Alexa Davis, Drew Schluter, Kaitlyn Teves, Lauren Gray, Mackenzie Pfoh, Maggy Spence, Nicole Pasqualini, Samantha Tonkin, Sophia Jette, Sydney Schluter and Tabitha Kelly.

The PoMo squad was coached by Steve Spence, who was assisted by Rod Schluter, Tony Pasqualini and Tony Davis.

The Redtails qualified for provincials by finishing second to their rivals, the Tigers, at the district championships June 18 and 19 at Coquitlam's Mundy Park.
