Top-seed Dr. Charles Best Blue Devils will face district-rivals Heritage Woods Kodiaks in one of two Fraser North Zone senior boys soccer semifinal matches on Monday (Nov. 8).
Riverside Secondary plays Burnaby Central in the other.
The Blue Devils defeated the Burnaby North Vikings 3-0 in their quarter-final match on Thursday (Nov. 4) at the Charles Best turf field.
Stefan Tent was the only Blue Devil to break through a determined Vikings defence in the first half to open the scoring. Jalen Harrison and Cole Toupin then added to Best’s lead in the second half.
Blue Devils’ coach Dave Jones said the Vikings proved a difficult test.
"It is hard when teams pack the defensive zone," he said, adding the match will be a primer for the Kodiaks.
The two sides battled to a 2-2 draw in the final match of the regular season.
Heritage Woods advanced after defeating Moscrop 7-2 on Thursday.
Riverside became the third Coquitlam District team to reach the semifinals by beating Alpha 2-1, while the Centennial Centaurs dropped a 2-1 decision to Burnaby Central.
The Centaurs, however, will get a second chance to stay alive through a backdoor match against Alpha on Monday.
