Adam Manji stopped all 35 shots he faced to lead the Coquitlam Express to a 2-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs in their BC Hockey League game, Sunday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
Goals by Joseph Odyniec in the first period and Drew Garzone in the third, were all the Express needed in the goaltenders’ duel as Chilliwack’s Austin McNicholas also stood tall in his net where he faced 37 shots.
The win elevated Coquitlam’s record to three wins, four losses and one shootout loss in eight games, while the Chiefs have won only twice, lost five and another in overtime.
The Express host Power River next Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. at Poirier before all BCHL teams head to Seattle for the league’s annual showcase from Oct. 22 – 26. Coquitlam plays the Vernon Vipers on Oct. 24 and the Merritt Centennials on Oct. 26. The event is an opportunity for scouts and college recruiters to watch and assess all the players in one location.
