Three collections looking at identity, urban life and colonial history will be up in a Coquitlam art gallery starting this week.
Place des Arts in Maillardville will open the exhibits with a reception on Friday featuring works from Coquitlam Heritage, Dong Li and Robert Morris.
The images will also be available for viewing on the facility’s website from April 11 to May 22, 2025.
Called Your Image, Coquitlam Heritage’s multimedia display in the Atrium includes works from several artists aiming to lift the voices of people who have been historically unrepresented.
Meanwhile, Li’s show in the Leonore Peyton Salon, titled Urban Invitation, draws from his background as an urban planner while Morris’ series in the Mezzanine, Colonial Layers, is a sculptural, mixed media study of graphic recording; its engraved panels and boxes include aerial survey photos that Morris gathered during his artist residency in Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, two years ago.
The opening reception for the three art shows is on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam). Visit the facility’s website for more details.
